Beacen vSeries® helps businesses to confidently meet these challenges with an innovative architecture that directly impacts the bottom line by maximizing productivity and minimizing administration overhead in data-intensive environments.
This comprehensive solution utilizes best-in-class hardware and software to deliver agility, reliability and scalability to such environments.
In an environment of budgetary challenges Beatty and Company has developed a dynamic "desktop on demand" that safely and easily shares data with any client under any operating environment. This groundbreaking approach to industry leading zero client solutions delivers exceptional return on investment, by reducing operational and energy costs.   The Beatty and Company vSeries framework offers a True Zero Client technology that we call “zStation”. zStation offers capabilities that exceed the following requirements that are common with respect to zero clients.
With Beatty and Company’s vSeries framework, there is no proprietary protocol, or required or additional hardware needed. Everything from simple to use desktops, to media rich videos on the latest operating systems, can be easily viewed using nothing more than standard protocols, even on legacy desktops. Using sophisticated thinking and avoiding “Band-Aid” fixes is how Beatty and Company is able to offer a rich end user experience at a fraction of the cost and complexity. Figure 1 depicts how the vSeries architecture eliminates both software and hardware on the end user devices.
Beatty and Company chose to start from the ground up with a clean slate. No more layers of code, just simple and quick access to the operating system. It’s quick and easy because it doesn’t involve various layers of complexity to negotiate. Today, desktops and even laptops have become so powerful and fast that most users couldn’t possibly utilize all the hardware capability at their disposal. With desktop efficiency at an all time low and cost and complexity at a all-time high, there has never been a better time for desktop virtualization, done right with Beatty and Company.
Intelligent Desktop Architecture™ (IDA™) was developed by Beatty and Company, to simplify and reduce the cost, security risk and administration complexity of existing desktop infrastructure. IDA addresses the majority of problems that plague IT Managers concerned with delivering applications and services to end users, cost effectively and securely while drastically reducing the time to deploy and maintain. Current desktop technology, whether virtual or otherwise, tends toward operating system centric architectures. vSeries is an application centric architecture which places a greater level of importance on the application and its interface to the user, rather than an operating system, dynamically delivering the appropriate application set to the edge for a specific user and device. It is able to do this based on who the end user is, and what and where the device may be located. This approach leverages the benefits of both centralized and distributed computing models.
Many companies have been concerned about the ever-increasing costs, management and security of their current desktop environments. Some costs are obvious, while others are hidden. As each year passes, more is required to secure desktops and make them more manageable. Like most of our customers, we believe that these conditions are out of control.
No longer are companies just concerned about managing their applications and delivering them to the end-user, but they are also securing and managing the operating systems, both remotely and locally. IDA was developed to increase security while minimizing costs and complexity, NOT by adding more software to an already complicated stack, but by building a revolutionary platform from the ground up. This is the only platform that offers you the ability to remove your Operating System dependency.
vSeries represents the current state of the art of IDA technologies and is comprised of three basic elements, the zStation Virtual Operating System (“VOS”), vServer System Broker, and the vSeries Enterprise Management Console. These three elements work together to deliver a secure, high performance zero computer desktop.
The zStation VOS can be dynamically delivered to the endpoint either via the network or non-writable USB, this small distribution (approximately 50 MB) boots in seconds and resides only in volatile system memory. Unlike conventional operating systems zStation is dynamically built based on both the device and user profiles. Loading only the device drivers and application that are needed by either the device or the user. (Figure 2) These profiles are pre-determined by the system administrator and delivered to the zStation from its vServer.
vSeries offers the flexibility of traditional personal computer based desktop architecture offering both a centralized and distributed processing model. This feature allows the business to determine where applications are processed, on the edge or in the datacenter. This hybrid computing approach not only reduces the processing and storage capacity in the datacenter but also significantly reduces the network overhead required to deliver a rich end user experience.
Enhanced system security is also achieved because the zStation VOS operates 100% in volatile system memory. There simply is no place for either a virus or mal-ware to attach; this eliminates the need for costly information assurance applications on the edge.
Your computer becomes a true plug-and-play appliance, capable of working "out of the box" without the need for any administrative intervention. The installer only has to plug it in; and turn it on.
As technology continues its steady migration to mobile platforms it is not enough for the application to be the only responsive element. zStation’s modularity guarantees a completely responsive environment.
vSeries represents a new level of security, reducing if not eliminating attack vectors. Since the filesystem that the operating system resides on is read-only attachment points for viruses and malware simply don’t exist.
zStation endpoint operating environment operates exclusively in volatile RAM not requiring local storage for any operation. This architecture provides performance not attainable by traditional computer architectures.
Remember when your computer was new, everything was fast and it just worked, as it gets older your computer seems slower, that’s because it is, operating system decay is a real issue. Since zStation is stateless it is new evry time you login.
Policy based computing guarantees that the system is deployed in the ideal configuration. Both operating system and application workloads are always in the optimal configuration on all systems.
